Off the coast of Sarasota, Florida are several fabulous barrier islands - Longboat Key, Lido Key, Siesta Key, Bird Key and Casey Key. All of them offer gorgeous beaches, abundance of outdoor activity, easy access to other great attractions of Florida and a highly sought after quality of life. Here are five great Sarasota, Florida condos to escape the harsh cold winters of the northern United States:

1) Aquarius Club - This beachfront condo sits on the south end of Longboat Key. World class golf, tennis, exquisite dining, shopping, boating and gorgeous beaches are a few things to keep you busy while you escape the winters up north. Longboat is a fabulous 11 mile long island with a variety of condos and single family homes to choose from. You can do as much or as little as you want here.

2) Seaplace - This is a large community of 42 acres on the south end of Longboat Key. There are a variety of mid rises, townhouses and villas. The entire community sits on the beach and has easy access. Vacationers can spend their time in one of the resort style pools, playing tennis, walking along Longboat Key beach or swimming in the Gulf of Mexico. Seaplace requires a 2 month minimum lease.

3) Gulf and Bay Club - Sitting directly on the white powdery sands of the famous Siesta Key sits the Gulf and Bay Club condos. These offer a fabulous location and views. Siesta Key beach was recently named the 2nd prettiest beach in the United States. You are within footsteps of this natural beauty. The rental policy is a little more flexible here with only a one month minimum lease required.

4) Siesta Gulf View - The water and beach views from this Siesta Key condo are lovely. Imagine sitting out back on the lanai enjoying a sunset and a meal or drink with your significant other while the snow accumulates back home. You are within footsteps of the highly sought after Siesta Key beach. You can rent these condos with a one month minimum lease.

5) Key Tower South - Do not forget about Lido Key condos. This smaller but highly sought after barrier island is simply gorgeous. It is the closest key to downtown Sarasota and the airport. Key Tower South sits directly on the beach and all of the units facing west have breathtaking views of the water. Access to the beach is within a few footsteps right out the back door. Vacationers can rent a Key Tower South unit with a one month minimum lease. However, you may want to stay longer.
