Enjoy the Best of Destin in a Vacation Rental Condo or House

The first morning in your Destin vacation rental will affirm your decision to make Destin your vacation spot. With your steaming mug of coffee, step onto the balcony of your Destin condominium and feel the Gulf breeze gently blowing in as the beach below comes to life. Don't worry about what the day will bring. You're at the beach and you're on vacation.

Burying your toes in the white-sand beach will probably be your first priority. Spending a day or half a day on one of the beaches of Florida's Emerald Coast will be like taking a deep breath and exhaling the stress of your working life. On a vacation in Destin you have the choice of washing away like a sandcastle in the rising tide or being as active as the waves crashing on the shore.

There's no need to just sit on the beach and look at the water, though. In Destin you can have a good time in the water and on the water. Rent a canoe or kayak for paddling the bays and inlets or turn up the juice by renting a Jet Ski for some fast-paced water adventure. When you rent a vacation home in Destin, it's easy to bring your own kayak, Jet Ski or boat and store it securely when you're not on the water.

You don't have to do all the work when exploring the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, however. Charter a fishing boat and let someone else do the steering while you wait for a tug on the line, see the dolphins at play or enjoy dinner on a sunset cruise to cap the day. If you're feeling adventurous, sign up for surfing lessons and test your equilibrium on a surfboard. Other recreational activities you can pursue around Destin include golf, tennis and horseback riding.

There are plenty of attractions around Destin to satisfy a range of tastes. The Track Family Recreation Center may be suitable for families with its mini golf, go-karts, bumper cars and arcades. The Gulfarium has a dolphin show, sea lion show and a show with both animals swimming next to each other. Big Kahuna's Water Park is another family destination.

For those with an ear for music, the Sinfonia Gulf Coast puts a contemporary touch to traditional orchestral works. For the history buffs among you, the Old Destin Post Office displays artifacts of Destin's pioneers. The Air Force Armament Museum (closer to Fort Walton Beach) shows aircraft and arms dating back to World War I. And, of course, Destin's scenery itself is to be enjoyed on various hike and bike trails that wind through the area.

Your accommodations will play a role in how you enjoy Destin. Many condos in Destin are on or very close to the white-sand beaches of Florida's Emerald Coast, so named for the sparkling emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico. If the beach or the Gulf waters are the focus of your much-needed and well-deserved vacation, you will probably want to rent a Destin condo.

You may be thinking that a condo sounds small, especially if you're traveling with children. Many Destin condo rentals have two or more bedrooms with combinations of beds that allow flexibility for families or friends traveling together. But there are also many houses for rent in Destin and these also come in varying sizes to accommodate different groups of travelers.

Fortunately there are a number of websites that make it easy to find vacation homes or condos for rent online. The broad selection allows you to find just what you need to have an excellent Destin vacation. You can rent Destin vacation homes from property managers or directly from the owners for the best deals.
